Itinerary
Day 1: West Coast and Clanwilliam Area
Departing north from Cape Town on the scenic West Coast route via Langebaan, Velddrift and Lamberts Bay.

A visit to The Bird Island at Lamberts Bay is one of only six sites world-wide where Cape gannets breed and it is also the only breeding site easily accessible to the public. The island lies about 100 meters off-shore. It is almost three hectares in size and is connected to the mainland via breakwater. Flamingos can be viewed at the mouth of the Jakkalsriver after the winter rains. Verlorenvlei near Elands Bay also offers good birding opportunities.

At Lamberts Bay we will turn inland towards Clanwilliam. Clanwilliam is one of the oldest towns in the country,
it is rich in history and will satisfy nature lovers, adventure travellers, flower viewers, water sportsmen as well
as those who just wish to enjoy sightseeing. It is in the centre of various flower (in season) and historical routes, hiking trails and rock art viewing.

Also known for the variety it offers the tourist. Clanwilliamm is the only place in the world where Rooibos (tea) is planted and cultivated. It is also and is well-known for its “veldskoen” (leather shoes), factory made by Strassbergers. The Clanwilliam Dam is a popular for water
sport enthusiasts and angling. It is also renowned as the best in the Western Cape for water skiing.

The Ramskop Nature Reserve at the dam is home to numerous endemic wild flower species and a famous visiting spot in August and September. Lunch will be enjoyed en route and prepared by Sasendle.
Overnight/ Full-board – Clanwilliam Lodge or similar.

Day 2: Cederberg Mountains and Kagga Kamma Karoo
An early morning departure from Clanwilliam Lodge will be rewarded with the experience of spectacular scenery via Wuppertal direct to Kagga Kamma National Park. Travelling through the Cederberg Mountains,

Stadsaal caves we will visit the Bill Hollenbach observatory just past the Sanddrift farm. The Stadsaal Caves
lies in the Cederberg Conservancy and we will take a look at the Bushman paintings whilst exploring the caves.

Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve South Africa is located in an untouched wilderness area south of the magnificent Cederberg Mountains. The reserve is well known for its scenic beauty and dramatic rock formations typical of the Cederberg.

After breakfast, we depart for Cape Town. On route we pass through the KOUE BOKKEVELD.

not only famous for its red apples, but also for producing, pears, peaches, plums apricots, potatoes, onions
and wheat. The PRINCE ALFRED’S HAMLET village is 10 km north of Ceres and was founded in 1861 and named after the second son of Queen Victoria who had visited South Africa the year before.

Mainly deciduous fruit is farmed. The town has shown rapid growth in industry and business development in the past five years. As we enter the CERES KAROO, from the Karoo Poort, we will see the vast panorama of the Ceres Karoo.
