  Tour Description
The Kruger National Park is one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world and offers the perfect opportunity for visitors to experience the excitement and adventure that Africa has to offer.

The Park is situated in the northeastern part of South Africa and is a vast stretch of land over 400 km from north to south and average 80 km from east to west. The southern part of the Kruger Park is more lush with vegetation and has a much higher rainfall than the more arid northern parts.

Visits to the Kruger Park during the summer or winter both have their benefits. During the summer months, from November to February the vegetation is more lush and the landscape spectacular. Most animals bear their young during this time and often congregate in open areas, which make them easier to spot.

During the winter, from April to August there is less water and animals seem to spend more time at waterholes and rivers. The vegetation is less dense and this makes predicting where animals will be a bit easier.

The Park is home to more than 500 birds species and 147 mammals including the famous “Big 5” It is home to more than 10,000 Elephant, 2,000 Lion and 150,000 Impala Antelope.

Itinerary
Please Note
This safari can be done over 4, 5 or even more days with guaranteed daily departures. Should you wish to prolong your stay on this safari, your additional day(s) will be similar to Day 3 in the itinerary.

Day 1
We depart Johannesburg early and leave the bustle of the City behind us as we head towards Mpumalanga - the place where the sun rises. With fresh air and open fields around us, we sit back and relax as we head down the Escarpment to the "Lowveld".

On arrival in Pilgrim’s Rest we check into the Royal Hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure exploring this old gold mining town Circa 1873. Dinner at the Hotel.

Day 2
Morning at leisure. Stroll back in time, down the historic main street of Pilgrim's Rest. It takes you back to the days when people from around the world converged on this little-known valley in a hectic scramble for the riches that lay beneath its grassy hillsides.

Thereafter we are travel from Pilgrim’s Rest to Kruger Park via via Panorama Route. We explore the Mpumalanga Panorama route, and along the way we visit some breathtaking views and spectacular scenery. We stop at God's Window, an overwhelmingly beautiful viewpoint with a 1000m drop into the "Lowveld". En route we travel via Graskop and some magnificent waterfalls.

Upon arrival we check into the 4 star Umbhaba Lodge. This upmarket Lodge, with its luxury en-suite rooms, will be our home for the next few days.

We have time to explore the Lodge before we embark on our first night Game Drive.

Our open 4X4 Game Drive vehicles are the perfect vantage point and will prove to make this an unforgettable experience. We arrive back in the camp when dinner is served and we have time to enjoy the magical sounds of the African night before retiring to our bungalows.

Day 3
Depart early at dawn for our morning game drive followed by breakfast.

Thereafter depart on a mid-morning game drive where we try to spot as many animals as possible. This is followed by a break for lunch when we stop at the lodge where we take time to have lunch (own expense).

We will embark on a afternoon Drive to see if we can spot some more of the magnificent creatures that roam this area. Our Game Drive vehicles are radio linked to other vehicles in the Park and therefore we have an advantage in tracking down the elusive "Big 5".

We will return to our camp in time to enjoy dinner and talk about everything we experienced on this day.

Day 4
Depart early at dawn for our early morning game drive followed by breakfast.

Thereafter we depart on a mid-morning game drive before we leave for the transfer to Johannesburg with a stop for lunch along the way.
We arrive in Johannesburg in the late afternoon.
