Tour Description
Sossusvlei in the Namib desert, is an huge clay-pan, enclosed by mighty sand dunes. Some of the spectacular dunes reach a height of 300 metres and are of the highest in the world.
During exceptional rainy seasons in Namibia, Sossusvlei may fill with water, but normally it is bone dry. As the clay layers are hardly impervious to water, a turquoise lake remains for quite some time.
Wind continuously reshapes the patterns of the huge dunes. It timelessly forces the grains of sand on the flat windward slope upwards to the crest of the dune. Here they fall down in the wind shade.
At sunrise and sunset the colours of the dunes are strong and constantly changing, allowing for wonderful photographic opportunities.

Itinerary
Windhoek – Namib Desert
Early afternoon pick-up by your driver from your hotel in Windhoek.
Travel via the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass and Solitaire to a luxurious lodge bordering the Namib Desert. Enjoy the desert feeling, miles of desolate and beautiful Namib Desert. Unique in Southern Africa.
Overnight Namib Desert (Dinner)

Early morning departure for your Sossusvlei excursion. You have the opportunity to climb some of the highest sanddunes in the world; admire the picturesque scenery and the Fauna and Flora of the desert.
Visit the rugged Sesriem Canyon before returning to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon join a guided nature/sunset drive to the “marble” mountains or relax with a sundowner on the veranda and enjoy a spectacular sunset at the lodge.
Overnight Namib Desert (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

After breakfast we return to Windhoek via Remhoogte Pass.
Arrive in Windhoek at midday.
Drop-off at any central Windhoek Hotel or guesthouse (Breakfast)
