  Tour Description
Approximately 900 km north of Maputo; 435 km south of Beira and opposite the coastal town of Vilankulo, lies a chain of five islands. Once part of the mainland, it broke away to form the Bazaruto Archipelago, comprising the islands of Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Banque and Santa Carolina.

The entire Bazaruto Archipelago is an ecological gem that has been granted National Park status. It falls into the Eastern African Marine Ecoregion, which stretches over a 4 600 kilometre coastline, from South Africa to Somalia.

Benguerra Island - the second largest island is approximately 11 kms by 5 kms in extent - was declared a National Park in 1971. It is an island paradise and perfect for the ultimate Mozambique beach holiday.

Climate
Being within the tropics the Bazaruto Archipelago never gets cold, but on some evenings during the winter months of June and July a light jacket or pullover may be necessary.

For the rest of the time, swimming costumes and light tropical wear are all you need.

The summer months of November through to February can be extremely hot. This is also the rainy season, though storms seldom last long.

Raincoats or waterproofs are wise during the rainy months and while boating and fishing.

Sunhats and caps are necessary, as are tennis-type shoes for walking on the reefs.

Children
Please be advised that the lodge does not accommodate children under the age of 8 years.
