Tour Description
The Pilanesberg is one of the few Southern African parks that contain a near-complete assembly of the area's original fauna. Currently some 10 000 head of game graze, browse, hunt and scavenge on the rolling grasslands and in the dense bush and wooded riverine valleys.
Situated about two hours' drive northwest of Johannesburg, next to Sun City, the Park is located within the Pilanesberg massif, a 1 200 million-year-old relic of volcanic convulsion made up of a series of four concentric mountain rings.
Accommodation in the Pilanesberg is offered at Manyane Resort, Bakgatla Resort and Sun City Resort
Guests staying at the resorts or at Sun City or Day-Visitors are invited to join any of these unique and extraordinary African adventures.
Balloon Safari
Guests are collected (early morning) at their hotel and taken on a leisurely drive to rendezvous with the balloon crew.
Flight is approximately an hour's duration and on landing sparkling wine is served. A game drive is then taken through the park to a private lodge where breakfast is served, after which guests are returned to their hotel.
Flights are early morning and you need to allow some 4 hours for the full itinerary which includes the following:
- Early morning collection from your hotel by safari vehicle.
- Launch of the balloon from the center of the park.
- An hour drifting serenely over the park.
- A sparkling wine celebration on landing, a time-honored tradition in ballooning.
- A Full English breakfast at a Private Game Lodge.
- A First Flight certificate signed by your pilot.
- Return transport to your hotel.

Elephant Back Safari
Departures are daily from the Welcome Centre at Sun City at 08:00 and 15:30 with an Open Safari Vehicle.
Transfer to the Elephant Wallow will be approximately 20 minutes through the Letsatsing Game Park giving guests an opportunity to view game along the way.
On arrival, welcome drinks are served and guests will be given an introductory talk and introduced to the Elephants and their handlers.
The Elephants are then saddled and the safari commences. After approximately an hour on elephant back guests return to The Elephant Wallow" to get a chance to interact with the elephants by feeding and touching them, afterwards a light snack will be provided.
Then Guests are returned to the Welcome Centre, Sun City.
The entire activity takes approximately 3 hours. There are 5 elephants and the maximum is 10 persons. Minimum age for Children is 5 - 8 years if riding with an adult and children pay the same rate as adults.

Guests staying at Bakubung or Kwa Maritane Lodge are welcome to book any activity except game drives as those lodges conduct their own game drives.
Game Drives for Sun City Guests
Scheduled daily drives are available into the Pilanesberg National Park, which depart in the early mornings and evenings.

Scheduled night drives are offered daily or alternatively guests can take a private night drive. The objective of a night drive is to view the park’s nocturnal wildlife.

Sheduled daily game drives depart in the early morning, afternoon and evenings into the Pilanesberg National Park. The objective of a night drive is to view the parks nocturnal wildlife.

Exclusive Safaris
Drives depart daily, in the early morning or evening. Beverages, snacks including souvenirs, hats and shirts are provided.
The emphasis of this tour is to locate as many of the natural inhabitants of the park as possible.

Quad Biking
Join us for a quad biking adventure trail through the Letsatsing Game Park accompanied by experienced guides, with the possibility of seeing Rhino, Giraffe and other animal species en route.

Hiking Trail
Our hiking trails focus on locating and observing the inhabitants of the Pilanesberg National Park from a different angle – on foot. Guests are accompanied by a qualified guide who will share his/her extensive knowledge and experience on both fauna and flora.

Clay Pigeon Shooting
Try your hand at clay pigeon shooting, no experience necessary as our instructors will help you become acquainted with the 12 gauge shotguns used in this activity.
